According to the Department of Customs Administration, Taiwan’s demand for pulp grew 4.73 percent in the first quarter of 2006, considered the traditional peak season. On the other hand, pulp makers actively developed export markets. As a result, Taiwan Pulp & Paper Corporation and Chung Hwa Pulp Corporation saw a combined sales growth of 17.71 percent in the first quarter of 2006, but import value grew by a modest 2.28 percent.
